I teach introductory backcountry map and compass navigation in Washingtons' Cascades for various recreational groups. While doing so i need to keep my map and compass, pencil and pad, list of names, course notes & outline & handouts, etc, all handy and esdy to get to when we stop, yet just as easy to stow when we move out from a stop. This thing is just what the Dr ordered. It's small enough that i can clip it (wuth a mini biner) just about anywhere in a pinch, such as onto a shoulder rstrap, chest strap, even onto my DSLR chestpack if i'm wearing that. It also works well *as* a chestpack clipped between a packs' shoulder straps, and it works well rigged as a pouch on my various packs' waistbelts.
